It has been a big month for us at John Gilmour Butchers, as we have been awarded two incredible honours. We’re humbled and proud that all of our work has been recognised. We wanted to tell you a bit more about these awards, and why they are so special for us at John Gilmour Butchers.
Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2022
The first (in order of date only!), was the Excellence Awards by Scotland Food and Drink. We’re incredibly proud to produce the best of Scotland, and we think, the world. We were stunned to win the Best Scotch Product, an award sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland. It truly shows that we are on the right path as Ambassadors for Scotland’s products.
A bit more about the awards: ‘For over 21 years the Excellence Awards has recognised the innovation and creativity that has come from companies, teams and individuals who, through their hard work and determination, are raising the bar and helping to build Scotland’s reputation as a Land of Food and Drink’ (click here to find out more about the Excellence Awards).
World Steak Challenge 2022
The second award another incredible honour. This year, we have entered our John Gilmour Butchers Black Gold range into the World Steak Challenge. The World Steak Challenge brings together entries from producers across the world into three categories: sirloin, fillet, and ribeye.
The Black Gold range is predominantly made up of Aberdeen Angus; Britain's favourite breed but is equally revered in steak cutting traditions across the globe. Its huge popularity is directly linked to the marbling that evenly runs through the meat, to give the beef its renowned rich and indulgent flavour. The marbling in Gilmour’s Black Gold contributes to the delicious melt-in-the mouth texture and rich beef flavour that makes for an incredible eating experience.
This beef is hung for a minimum of 60 days in our Himalayan salt chamber, producing the best beef available today in the UK.
Our vision is very simple; to be the UK leader in ‘Super Premium’ beef production, meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future.
We are delighted to announce that we have won two gold medals for our sirloin and ribeye steaks – the highest honour. We are absolutely over the moon at this award, in recognition of our Black Gold Range.
