Q.

What is "clean beef"?

A.

Clean beef can only come from an animal that is a heifer or bullock. A heifer is a female who has not yet had a calf. The pregnancy and stress of carrying a calf, changes the texture and flavour of the beef, so it is important to only use heifers. A bullock is a male that has been castrated shortly after birth, thus stopping the huge amounts of testosterone developing large extremely lean muscles. This tough and lean beef has little to no flavour. You can read more about this in our Provenance section.

Will my delivery be fresh or frozen?

A.

It will always come fresh. We send our boxes fresh so that you can make the choice to cook on arrival, refrigerate, or freeze it as and when you like. It also means that the meats you’re consuming haven’t been held in a freezer for up to a year. In our blog Fresh versus Frozen we go into greater detail of why that is important.

Q.

Can I schedule a weekend delivery?

A.

Yes, we can make up your delivery to go out on a Friday and arrive on the Saturday. If you would like to do this, please call 01875 613829. There may be a small extra carrier charge for this service.

Can I schedule an early morning delivery?

A.

Yes, you can schedule pre 9:00AM, pre 10:00AM and pre 12:00AM. Please call 01875 613829 to arrange this. There may be a small extra carrier charge for this service.

What time of day will my delivery arrive?

A.

Unless otherwise specified, our couriers will deliver guaranteed pre 16:00PM.

Q.

How long will my delivery stay fresh for?

A.

All meats will arrive with you with a minimum of 5 days shelve life (poultry) through to meats with 12 days (steaks and burgers). Each individual pack will have a packed on and best before date. Every pack will also come with a unique batch code which allows us to identify where the meat has come from.

Q.

How long can my order stay in the delivery box without spoiling?

A.

The “Gilmour Hamper Box” will keep your meats chilled below 6°C for 72 hours. From leaving our premises, the box shouldn’t be in transit more the 24 hours, but can comfortably last up to 72 hours.

How long will my order stay fresh in the fridge after delivery?

A.

The cooler the chilling environment, the longer it will keep. You should always consult the best before date on packaging. If you have frozen the product on arrival, you can add one year onto the best before date.

Who will deliver my order?

Our friendly partners at APC overnight delivery will deliver your order to your door.

Can you deliver to my office?

A.

Yes, that is fine. Please enter your office address in the delivery address section and we’ll organise it to be delivered there.

How far in advance can I schedule a delivery?

Up to 2 months.

How big is the delivery box?

A.

Depending on the size of your order it will either be our smaller box (L-400mm, W-300mm, H-280mm) or our larger box (L-410mm, W-280mm, H-300mm).

Do you fulfil special requests (e.g. whole pig for a barbecue)?
